One-Way Synchronization
The data synchronizations available in CodeTwo Exchange Sync can be divided in two general types: One-Way and Two-Way.

One-Way involves synchronizing items only in one direction i.e. from the source folders to the target folders. If we create, delete or change an item in the source folder, this will be reflected in the target folder. But the changes to the target folder will not travel to the source folder. Naturally, the synchronization can occur between more than two folders. Depending on the type of One-Way synchronization task you choose, the number of source or destination folders may vary.

In Two-Way synchronization there is no division into source and target folders for a change in any folder will be reflected in all the remaining folders defined by the user. This synchronization types is also called Folder Ring.

This chapter discusses the setup and the available One-Way synchronization tasks in CodeTwo Exchange Sync.

Setup
To create a One-Way synchronization task, click New in the control panel ribbon (Fig. 1).

A dialog box in which you choose synchronization task type will open (rys. 2)). In Synchronization task name field, type the name for the task and choose from Synchronization type dropdown menu one of the three One-Way synchronization types:

Click OK to add the task to the list of defined synchronization tasks in the main control panel screen.

In all One-Way synchronization types CodeTwo Exchange Sync allows using filters and modifiers during the synchronization.

One-To-One Synchronization

One-To-One synchronization involves replicating data from one source folder to one target folder. All changes made to the source folder (e.g. item editing, deletion, creation) will be reflected in the target folders. The changes made to the target folder, though, will not affect the source folder.

By defining a One-To-One task, the user can choose only one source folder and one target folder. Both folders must be of the same type.

One-To-Many Synchronization

One-To-Many synchronization involves replicating data from one source folder to multiple target folders. All changes made to the source folder (e.g. item editing, deletion, creation) will be reflected in the target folders. The changes made to the target folders, though, will not affect the source folder.

By defining a One-To-Many task, the user can choose only one source folder and multiple target folders. All folders must be of the same type.

Many-To-One Synchronization

Many-To-One synchronization involves replicating data from multiple source folders to one target folder. All changes made to the source folders (e.g. item editing, deletion, creation) will be reflected in the target folder. The changes made to the target folder, though, will not affect the source folders.

By defining a Many-To-One task, the user can choose multiple source folders but only one target folder. All folders must be of the same type.
